Gamealot is a 2 1/2 day board game convention that brings novice and experienced players together to play games and raise funds for a local charity that supports families in our community.
Once again, our goal is to raise funds for the St. Albert Family Resource Centre to empower and assist children and parents in St. Albert.
About the St. Albert Family Resource Centre
The St. Albert Family Resource Centre provides services, resources, and educational support to strengthen families in our community. It offers 400 courses and workshops annually through their Family Life Education program, and one-on-one education, support and referral services to parents and primary caregivers of children.
Thanks to your support, we have helped the St. Albert Family Resource Centre expand the help they give the community.
In 2019
1909 unique participants attended our program
450 facilitated courses, both in-house and on an outreach basis.
356 unique participants attended the family support program
In 2020, the Family Resource Centre aims to increase the number of educational programs they offer, and build their outreach team to help children, youth and families within St. Albert and surrounding areas.
About Gamealot
In the late ’90s, John Engel, owner of Mission: Fun & Games in St. Albert, set out to host an event “for the gamers, by the gamers.” The idea evolved into a fundraiser. John hosted the first Gamealot in support of the St. Albert Food Bank at his store in 2001. The event has since raised thousands of dollars and hundreds of pounds of goods for people in need.
Today, Gamealot is organized and managed by a committee of gaming enthusiast volunteers. This is the first year it will be hosted online using Discord and many other platforms. Over 100 guests from across Alberta attend the event each year.
In the past three years Gamealot attendees raised $13000!
